Feb 13 – 28 / February Update

I realized I didn’t have a specific purpose or benefit in summarizing all the pieces I work on in a 1-2 week period so I paused updates to figure out how I’d like to continue documenting my process/progress this year. For now, I’m going to focus on posting monthly updates with lessons learned and pieces I’m excited (and not so excited) about.

After the preparation and excitement for the Made with Maum market in mid-February, I slowed down with my time in the studio to rest and work on pieces that incorporated more decorative handbuilding processes that are fun and rewarding but take a lot more time than just throwing & trimming on the wheel. My full-time, non-pottery job also continues to keep me busy and often with limited time/energy to create.

For the last two weeks of February, I worked on pieces #59-#73. These pieces included more confetti trinket dishes, planters, cups & tiny vases(!!!). I spent most of the time decorating the planters so didn’t get as many new pieces done. I think for March, I’d like to work on shapes to get more time on the wheel while trying something new.

Finally, I will be participating in another very exciting market/pop-up with co-mrkt at Open Market in Koreatown, Los Angeles. I feel a bit more confident about selling in-person after participating in the made with maum market, but I am still not exactly sure what to expect since every event is different! Preparing for another market means focusing a lot on glazing and finalizing pieces. As tempting as it is to participate in markets, especially because I get to meet great new people, I am thinking I’ll focus on making in April. But…we’ll see!
